Winter Maintenance | Follow These Steps to Extend the Lifespan of Your Pile Driver by Ten Years

In the cold winter months, low ambient temperatures can lead to difficulties in starting the pile driver’s engine, accelerated wear of moving parts, and reduced safety performance, thereby worsening the operating conditions of the pile driver and affecting its normal operation. To ensure the pile driver’s reliability, economy, and safety, maintain its technical performance, and improve operational efficiency, it is essential to carry out proper and scientific winter maintenance and upkeep on the pile driver.

I. Replacement of Gear Oil in the Pile Driver Housing

1. Remove the magnetic cover from the pile driver’s housing and pour out the oil.

2. Use a cloth or lint-free wipe to thoroughly clean any impurities from the bottom of the box until no impurities can be felt by hand.

3. Pour 2-3 liters of cleaning agent or diesel oil into the pile driver’s casing.

4. Put the magnet cover on, shake the housing to ensure the cleaning agent flows thoroughly throughout the interior and rinses all components.

5. Repeat steps 1.2;

6. Use gear oil of the appropriate grade (85W-140) and fill the tank to the level specified in the instruction manual.

7. Reattach the magnet cover and tighten the securing screws.

8. After shaking the hammer head upon startup to ensure that the gear oil evenly coats the inner walls of the pile driver’s casing, proceed with the impact test.

II. Precautions for Replacing Gear Oil in Pile Drivers

1. Use the gear oil model specified by the manufacturer.

2. Before changing the oil, run the gearbox for 5 minutes to improve the fluidity of the gear oil and reduce residual oil in the gearbox housing.

3. During use, it is strictly prohibited to dilute gear oil with diesel or other substances. Also, do not heat the housing in winter due to low temperatures, as this could damage the housing seals and cause serious degradation of the gear oil.

4. Prevent water and impurities from entering during refueling;

5. Each time you change the gear oil in the oil tank, check the condition of the magnet in the magnetic cover to ensure it is intact and has strong magnetic attraction. Before reassembling, clean any impurities adhering to the magnetic cover.
