What precautions should be taken when using a forklift to load and unload goods?

As we all know, when loading and unloading goods—especially heavy, irregular-shaped materials such as lumber and steel—we often use tools like log grabs and lotus grabs to conserve physical effort and improve efficiency. So, during normal operations, what precautions should we take when using a lotus grab to load and unload goods? Let’s find out together.
1. Do not use the work equipment to load or unload machinery. Doing so could pose a risk of the excavator’s bucket grapple falling or tipping over.
2. The lotus grip can only be used for loading and unloading on solid, level ground. Maintain a safe distance from the edges of roads or cliffs.
3. For machines equipped with an automatic deceleration device, be sure to turn off the automatic deceleration switch. If you operate the excavator’s clamshell bucket while the automatic deceleration system is enabled, there is a risk of the engine speed suddenly increasing, the machine moving abruptly, or the machine’s travel speed accelerating unexpectedly.
4. Be sure to use a ramp with sufficient strength. Ensure that the ramp’s width, length, and thickness are adequate to provide a safe loading and unloading slope. Take measures to prevent the ramp from shifting or coming loose.
5. While on the ramp, do not operate any controls other than the travel joystick. Do not attempt to steer or correct your direction while on the ramp. If necessary, drive the machine off the ramp, adjust its direction, and then drive it back onto the ramp.
6. Run the engine at low idle speed and operate the excavator’s clamshell bucket at low speed.
7. When using the Lotus Grab to load and unload materials on embankments or platforms, ensure that it has an appropriate width, strength, and slope.
